Benji Marshall's love affair with Wests Tigers looks over, with the club great saying he has no interest in their current dire fortunes.
Marshall was axed by the club after last season despite decent form and signed a last-minute contract with South Sydney.
He has played both games this season for a Rabbitohs team expected to challenge for the premiership, while Wests Tigers have slumped to two disappointing losses; albeit to strong Raiders and Roosters teams. Asked how it felt watching the Tigers struggle, Marshall was blunt.
"My interest in what they were stopped about in October when they let me go," he said on NRL 360, despite having played 257 games and won the 2005 premiership for Wests Tigers.
"I was focused on what I was going to do next. I don't take too much interest into what they're doing, it doesn't affect me like it used to when I was there.
"I'm fully invested in Souths. What they're doing at the moment doesn't bother me. When I was there it did, but not now."
Marshall continued: "We can talk about them, that's fine
"They haven't been up to scratch. They've had two pretty tough games, you have to take into account they played Canberra and the Roosters — two top four teams. Did you expect them to win any of those games?"
Marshall first read about his impending Tigers axing in the media. He was not happy.
He declined a club invitation to have his family join him on the field after his final game for his once-beloved Tigers last season.
Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire, the man who showed Marshall the door, responded to his team's poor early form this season by axing big-name centre Joey Leilua on Tuesday.
The Tigers face another tough ask this weekend, facing the unbeaten Knights in Newcastle.
