Lahore: Left-handed opening batter Sharjeel Khan said that he is working hard on his fitness and is trying to reach the required level, set by Pakistan team management.
Speaking to reporters in a virtual conference on Tuesday, the 31-year old said that he never missed a match in 2020/21 domestic cricket due to fitness. “There is no major issue regarding my fitness as I have been playing the entire domestic season,” said Sharjeel.
“I have played eight first-class matches, 11 T20s, five PSL games and seven one-days in Pakistan Cup. I have not left any match because of my fitness,” he added.
“Every player has a different level of fitness and has a different requirement of fitness. I am following the fitness plan that has given to me by the Pakistan team management so that I meet the required level,” he maintained.
Sharjeel thinks that fitness is not the only thing as skills are the most important aspect. “I’m running around 15 km per day through different drills. There is no added pressure of fitness on me. Apart from fitness, I am also working on improving my skills,” he added.
Sharjeel is making his comeback in the national team after four years. He is aiming to make an impact
“It feels good to make comeback and currently we are training on the basis of South Africa’s conditions. I’ve been selected in the T20I side and my only target is to show performance there,” he added.
