Both McLaren cars have been disqualified from the Las Vegas Grand Prix after a technical breach of Formula 1's plank wear rules, shaking up the title race.
The FIA's technical team uncovered critical infringements during post-race plank inspections in Las Vegas, rendering both McLaren cars non-compliant.
As a result, Lando Norris has been stripped of his second-place finish and Oscar Piastri his fourth at Sunday's Las Vegas Grand Prix.

McLaren was hauled before the stewards for the alleged breach after both Norris' and Piastri's cars failed the post-race inspection for the minimum thickness requirement of the rear skid block.
It took the FIA only about 30 minutes to communicate the disqualification of Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton from the Chinese Grand Prix in March for plank wear. In stark contrast, hours passed after the drivers' summons before the governing body finally communicated its decision on the McLaren breach.
The plank on an F1 car regulates ride height to ensure legality and actively prevents teams from gaining an unfair advantage by over-utilising ground effect aerodynamics.
The breach is specifically related to Article 3.5.9 e) of the 2025 F1 technical regulations, which mandates that the plank assembly's thickness, when measured normal to the lower surface, must be 10mm when new.
The rule further states that a minimum thickness of 9mm will be accepted after a race, meaning a maximum of 1mm of wear is allowed.
If a car's plank wears beyond the legal tolerance, the car is judged to have run at an illegal ride height and is immediately disqualified from the results.
Both McLaren cars were found to have failed decisively, with the plank wear exceeding the limit at two separate measuring points, registering between 1.07mm and 1.12mm.
McLaren claimed the excessive wear on the skid pads was not due to an illegal setup but was instead the result of both cars having picked up damage during the race, which led to increased wear.
With just two rounds left in the season, the championship picture has been rocked.
With the double disqualification, Red Bull's Max Verstappen now draws level on points with Piastri in the championship battle, while Norris's lead will sit at 24 points.
In terms of Vegas, the disqualification bumps George Russell into second place and promotes Kimi Antonelli onto the podium. Charles Leclerc moves to fourth.
Carlos Sainz jumps to fifth, Isack Hadjar to sixth, Nico Hulkenberg to seventh, and Lewis Hamilton to eighth.
Esteban Ocon inherits ninth place, making room for Ollie Bearman in the top 10.
McLaren can opt to appeal the decision.
