Matt Rowell's win was a surprise to himself, and frankly everyone else on Brownlow Medal night.
The Gold Coast Suns star was fifth in the betting markets but came away with the win on 39 votes.
Nick Daicos was second on 32, while Bailey Smith rounded out the podium on 29.

At the Crown on Monday night, Wide World of Sports asked a number of players and figures who their pick was before the count started.
The list doesn't include Rowell at all, indicating how much of a roughie he truly was.
