Somehow I stumbled upon this last night and haven't yet had a chance to watch it all yet. But it's held every four years, is overseen by the International Olympic Commission, and only features sports that aren't in the Olympics.
It's currently being held in China and runs through this weekend. Video is on demand on the Web site, with commentary.
Some of this stuff is mesmerizing. Dynamic freediving is basically how far you can go underwater without air, so… competitive drowning? Sambo is like Olympic MMA. And there's lots more.
I really think you should be watching this!
