‘Captain’s role in selection is key’ Afridi reacts on Babar-Wasim controversy

KARACHI: Former international cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi said in-house differences between captain, chief selector, or anyone else should remain inside.
Speaking to reporters, Afridi said the captain’s role is very important in the team’s selection as he has to lead the team on the ground.
“Babar Azam’s suggestion and recommendations as captain are very important in the selection process. Because, in the end, the captain has to lead the team in the ground,” he said.
“Whatever happened in between Wasim and Babar should have remained behind the closed doors,” he suggested.
On the other hand, Afridi stressed the need to included experienced players in the team. “There should be experienced players in the squad in place of those who perform in just a match or two. An experienced cricketer is more likely to succeed when given an opportunity at the international level,” he concluded.
