Hogan's jab at 'completely average' Tszyu

Tim Tszyu's upcoming opponent, Brisbane-based Irishman Dennis Hogan, says the undefeated Aussie has had an easy run as of late, having not come up against any fighter who's proved a hard task ahead of the pair's bout at the end of the month.

Tszyu, the son of the legendary Kostya Tszyu, will have a chance to continue in his father's footsteps when he faces Hogan (28-3-1), who has lost two challenges for a world title in his last two fights.

The 26-year-old Tszyu knows he must defeat Hogan if he's to ever have a shot at Brian Castano, who recently claimed the WBO super welterweight belt in a unanimous points win over Patrick Teixeira.

But according to Hogan, Tszyu will face his toughest challenge yet, with the 36-year-old making it known he's a class above his younger opponent.

"He's not as good as me," Hogan told reporters.

"I've got more skills, I've got more everything and I fully believe I'm the better boxer.

"That's why this fight excites me so much. I've never wanted a fight as much as this my whole life.

"I believe It's my time and you will all see why."

Asked if Tszyu hadn't been tested yet following recent TKO wins over Jeff Horn and Bowyn Morgan, Hogan responded with: "Exactly how I feel".

"Even Jeff at his best, he was a welterweight," he said.

"The guy (Bowyn Morgan) he knocked over in the first round was a welterweight.

 Tim Tszyu

"Two of the best from his most recent wins are people that are genuinely at a lower weight category.

"They're talking about him and all his power but he didn't put a scratch on Jeff regardless of how the fight went down.

"That won't be me, I'm fully confident in my own abilities. I know I will get the win, something inside me has opened up."

Tszyu took down Horn during the eighth round, while Morgan was brutally knocked out just seconds into the bout.

Despite Tszyu's win over Horn, who famously defeated the legendary Manny Pacquiao in 2017, Hogan said the pair's bout wasn't as impressive as it may have seemed for fans of the 17-0 Aussie.

"He's (Tszyu) more a counter puncher," Hogan added.

"I don't know what Bowyn was thinking when I watched the fight. I knew it would be over soon. He walked straight in with his hands up and started walking into Tim's right hand.

"For Jeff, I think Jeff was overconfident as well and he thought he would get Tim out of there and have a bit of fun really. That was another thing in itself.

"I'm all in for this, this is my whole life and I will be taking this seriously. I won't be doing silly things.

"I'm going to make him look average, completely average."
