X-RAY-TED: Does Andy Murray's post-surgery X-ray reveal his manhood?

Andy Murray of Great Britain celebrates a point in his first round match against Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain during day one of the 2019 Australian Open at Melbourne Park on January 14, 2019 in Melbourne, Australia.

Doctors usually use X-rays to determine whether one has broken bones.

In the case of Andy Murray, does his X-ray show off a bone of a different kind?

On Tuesday, British tennis star Andy Murray posted a message on

Instagram

stating he underwent a second hip operation in London the day prior.

Murray received a metal implant one year after his first operation on his hip-joint.

“Feeling a bit battered and bruised just now,” Murray wrote in the post, “but hopefully that will be the end of the pain.”

Alongside the post, Murray shared two pictures: one of himself lying in a hospital bed, and the other an X-ray.

“I now have a metal hip as you can see,” Murray continued, “and I look like I’ve got a bit of a gut.”

However, it doesn’t seem like his fans were concerned about Murray’s gut at all. Rather, they spotted what looks like the shadow of his penis at the bottom of his X-ray.

Instagram commenters were quick to poke fun of their phallic discovery.

“Does anybody else see what I can see in the second picture?” questioned one Instagram user.

“Best wishes. And we can see a little more than your shiny new hip,” chuckled one person.

“Is it just me or can I see his dingle dangle outlined there!?” another queried.

“Speedy recovery, happy you’re out of pain and congrats on your pork sword,” another stated.

While people poked fun at the sight of the X-ray, it’s actually a thing in the field of radiology known as the Throckmorton sign.

A

Throckmorton sign

– also known as John Thomas sign – is a term used by radiologists to refer to the direction of where the penis points in relation to unilateral disease.

The common belief is that the penis points to the direction of the medical condition – in Murray’s case, his hip.

According to the

Associated Press

, Murray has dealt with hip pain for a number of years, having surgery in January 2018 in hopes of solving the problem. After he lost to Roberto Bautista Agut in the Australia Open this year, Murray decided to have another surgery.
