According to a new study published in the
Journal of American Medical Association Neurology
, former football players with head injuries struggle with low testosterone and erectile dysfunction.
The study examined 3,409 former players and found those with more concussion symptoms were twice as likely to report erectile dysfunction, compared to those that reported fewer concussion symptoms,
reports.
Studies of sexual health in athletes with head injuries is well documented, as the study lists reduced frequency of intercourse, diminished libido, impaired ability to orgasm, ED, and sexual arousal issues, as potential side effects found in previous studies.
The researchers believe the low testosterone and ED is the result of damage to a hormone-producing gland at the base of the brain.

According to openly gay former NFL player Ryan O’Callaghan, every NFL team has at least one gay or bisexual player on it, the
reports.
“I can promise you there’s plenty of closeted NFL players,” O’Callaghan said.
O’Callaghan played for the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs over his career and came out in 2017.
He claims since doing so he speaks to closeted players on a regular basis who are currently playing.
“I think it’s safe to say there’s at least one on every team who is either gay or bisexual. A lot of guys still see it as potentially having a negative impact on their career,” O’Callaghan said, adding the NFL is not providing players with the resources they need.
