Hat-tricks rain as Roosters slaughter Sea Eagles

Three of the Roosters' try-scoring freaks combined for a variety of milestones on Saturday, as they cruised to a 46-4 win.

Brett Morris moved into fourth place on the all-time NRL try-scorers list as the Roosters feasted on a hapless Manly Sea Eagles at the SCG.

The former Dragons and Bulldogs flyer was level with Andrew Ettinghausen on 165 at the start of the day but now sits on 168. He may get onto the podium by season's end, just 12 behind Steve Menzies on 180.

It would probably require another season to pass Billy Slater (190) and a few more to catch Ken Irvine's all-time record of 212.

Both Morris and fullback James Tedesco bagged hat-tricks, making them the first teammates to cross the stripe three times in the same game since Matt Dufty and Tim Lafai for the Dragons in 2018.

Sitili Tupouniua and Angus Crichton also grabbed four-pointers before Brett's brother, Josh, joined an elite club of his own.

With just over a minute remaining, he split a tired Sea Eagles line and joined the party with the final score of the afternoon, which was his 150th in the NRL.

He became just the 14th man to reach that milestone, leaving Greg Inglis behind on 149.

The brothers make up a third of all current NRL players who have reached a century of tries, and are first and second respectively among that group.

Jarrod Croker (132), Blake Ferguson (117), Alex Johnston (108) and Daniel Tupou (102) are the other four current players on the 100-plus list.
