Nick Kyrgios has been selected for Australia's Davis Cup team for the first time in five years ahead of their qualifying tie against Sweden on January 31.
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist was a shock selection by captain Lleyton Hewitt despite showing no interest in the competition since he last played against Belgium in November 2019.
During an interview with AAP in 2022, Kyrgios said he opted out of the competition because he felt he was not embraced by Australia, leading him to play in a lucrative exhibition event in Saudi Arabia instead.

But he was named on Monday by Hewitt alongside Alex de Minaur, Jordan Thompson and Thanasi Kokkinakis.
Hewitt can add another player to the team before the tie in Stockholm.
Kyrgios is poised to contest the Australian Open next week.
Speaking after his three-set loss to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in Brisbane last week, Kyrgios said he was unsure how his wrist injury would hold up in Melbourne.
"I think I almost need a miracle, and I need, like, the stars to align for my wrist to hold up in a grand slam for sure," he said.
