Hollywood A-lister spins out on pro racing debut

Hollywood A-lister Keanu Reeves made his professional motorsports debut at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday morning (AEDT).

And the Matrix star went for a wild spin on his way to a 25th-place finish.

Competing in the Toyota GR North America Cup series, Reeves qualified 31st of 35 cars, and briefly ran as high as 21st.

He successfully dodged a lap one pileup, but spun on his own later in the race. The category is competing as a support category for the eight-hour IMSA sportscar race.

The race took place on the road course layout of the famed host of the Indy 500.

The 60-year-old is no stranger to motorsport – he often competed in a celebrity race held in support of the Long Beach Grand Prix IndyCar race, and won the event in 2009.

Reeves is driving the No.92 BRZRKR car, which is promoting his graphic novel "The Book of Elsewhere." He is teammates with Cody Jones from "Dude Perfect."

He is scheduled to attend a 30th anniversary screening of "Speed" on Tuesday in Los Angeles alongside his co-star Sandra Bullock.

The category's second race is on Monday morning (AEDT).
