'Pumped' Power faithful in cross-country convoy

Port Adelaide fans have embarked on the journey halfway across the country to see the Power take on the Swans in Friday night's preliminary final.

Mary Xenides is one of the many supporters who fuelled up her car to join in a convoy to Sydney.

"I couldn't miss it," she said.

"I think we have a very good chance at winning, and I wanted to be there to experience that," she said.

Fans are decorating their cars and flying flags to show their team spirit during the long drive to the east coast.

"It's going to be a long drive, but it's going to be a fun one, and we're all pumped about what lies ahead," added Xenides.

For those who opted not to brave the 15-hour drive, a sudden drop in prices provided a last-minute opportunity to secure flights.

"Was planning on driving and then last minute yesterday got cheaper flights, and made the decision to book them," fan Con Christodoulou said.

Some of the Port Adelaide faithful gathered at the airport, but there were some nerves amid the jubilation.

"It's exciting but nerve-wracking as well. You don't know what to expect with Port," said supporter Will Fitridge.

With only one game standing between Port Adelaide and a grand final at the MCG, the Power faithful are confident in their team's chances.

"We booked for four families, four rooms at the Windsor Hotel for next week," said fan Philip Williams.
