Hope Solo’s dog in critical condition from 'heinous' shooting

Hope Solo and Jerramy Stevens attend the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala 2015 at the Kongresshaus on Jan. 11, 2016 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Soccer star Hope Solo’s dog is in critical condition at the vet after the doberman was shot in North Carolina.

The two-time Olympic gold medallist revealed the heartbreaking news on her Instagram account on Thursday, noting she and her husband Jerramy Stevens are in shock.

“Our magnificent dog Conan… is in critical condition after being shot last night,” she shared in a caption to an image of the couple smiling alongside their five dobermans.

“It’s hard news to share, but harder to make sense of this heinous act. Jerramy and I are shocked and heartbroken, but we want to say thank you to Wilkes Veterinary Hospital and their staff for rushing Conan into emergency care, as well as their COVID-19 care practices.”

Hope went on to suggest the family dog may need a prosthetic limb due to the traumatic injury.

“We’ve heard that there are developments in canine prosthetics and would love any information about getting Conan a new front leg!” she wrote.

Hope did not disclose details on whether the shooting took place on her 60-acre family farm with Jerramy in North Carolina or off the property.
