Gold medal hope injured in Teahupo'o wipeout

Australian surfer Jack Robinson has been injured while training at Teahupo'o just days out from the start of the surfing competitions at Paris 2024.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Robinson was thrown off his board by a wave during his second training session at Teahupo'o — a village on the coast of Tahiti in French Polynesia — on Thursday (AEST).

Footage obtained by Wide World of Sports shows him being carted away on a jet ski.

With some of the most powerful surf in the world at Teahupo'o, the 26-year-old reportedly cut his foot after colliding with the sharp reef.

Robinson was assisted out of the water via a jet ski before being assessed by medical staff at the venue.

He was then taken to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.

The Olympic surfing competition gets underway on Sunday (AEST).
