West Coast axe coach after tumultuous post-flag run

The West Coast Eagles have "mutually agreed" to part ways with senior coach Adam Simpson, effective immediately.

Simpson came under fire after his side's dismal 54-point loss to Melbourne in round 17, with the club's key stakeholders meeting on Tuesday to make the decision.

The Eagles confirmed the news on Tuesday afternoon via a club statement.

West Coast have lost 56 of their past 65 matches under Simpson.

Simpson coached the Eagles for 11 years, and led them to their famous 2018 premiership win over Collingwood.

The club will be required to name an interim coach for the rest of the season, with only seven home-and-away games left in 2024.

The Eagles sit in 16th on the ladder with a 3-13 record.

MORE TO COME.

Adam Simpson.
