Sharks dudded as NRL referee blunder exposed

The NRL's referees boss will review Friday night's match between Cronulla and Gold Coast after a blunder by the whistle blower in the second half of the Sharks 20-16 loss.

Minutes into the second 40 minutes with Cronulla down 12-0 and on the attack on the Titans' line, Kayal Iro hit the ball up on the fourth tackle.

Following Iro's tackle, referee Ziggy Przeklasa-Adams raised his arm to signal the fifth tackle for the Sharks, robbing them of another tackle on the opposition tryline.

Five-eighth Braydon Trindall played the tackle according to the referee's call and put up a cross-field kick, which was caught on the full in the in-goal by Brian Kelly, handing the Titans a seven-tackle set.

The Titans then pounded the ball down the field and received a penalty at the end of their set after it was ruled Jesse Ramien obstructed the kick-chase.

The Titans extended their lead by two points with the goal.

The Sharks came back late in the second half, applying pressure in the final minutes but fell short by a solitary try in the end.
