Gould speaks out on new signing with telling reaction

Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould has spoken glowingly of Sitili Tupouniua after confirming he has signed with the club.

Reports emerged on Monday that Tupouniua was a done deal at the club on a four-year contract, which coincided with Angus Crichton re-signing with the Roosters.

Asked on Nine's 100% Footy whether he could confirm or deny the report, Gould couldn't contain his happiness, sporting a smile as he replied "he's a very good player".

Gould went on to confirm as of 2025, the second-rower would be in Bulldogs colours.

"The clubs will coordinate an announcement tomorrow, as these things usually work out," he said.

"It wasn't done until this morning … he was given permission to look around some time ago. I guess the Roosters were looking at their roster, salary cap and everything that was going on.

"He played in the centres on the weekend and did really well and when everyone's fit and well he's probably been resigned to the bench over there.

"I think he's still got the best part of his football in front of him and he's a great acquisition for our club and will really complement the great players we've unearthed this year.

"Everyone at our club's done a really good job this season … it's another addition to bolster the strength and depth of our forward pack. We're excited to have him."
