A man has been charged by police after allegedly sending a threatening message to NRL official Adam Gee prior to a round 15 fixture.
The referee was reportedly on his way to Accor Stadium for the clash between the Rabbitohs and Broncos when he received the message from an unknown person.
Gee alerted the NRL integrity unit immediately after becoming aware of the abuse, but opted to referee the match despite the threat.

The 19-year-old man has also been served with a personal violence order and will attend Sutherland Local Court this week.

Gee is one of the game's most well-respected match officials and was in charge of last year's grand final between Penrith and Brisbane.
The 39-year-old refereed Gold Coast's mammoth victory over the Warriors on Saturday and has received plenty of support following the incident last week.
