Rising fullback David Armstrong has knocked back a rich offer from the Sydney Roosters to agree to a new two-year deal with Newcastle.
Armstrong has had a fine maiden season in the top grade, filling the big shoes of injured Kalyn Ponga in fine style.
The 23-year-old has come from nowhere to cement a regular top grade spot, attracting the interest of the Roosters and at least one other club.

But Armstrong has told Knights officials he wants to stay at the club in a major coup.
"The Roosters went in hard but he likes it here and is a great kid," a Knights source told Wide World of Sports.

Armstrong has scored five tries in as many games since taking over from Ponga, but had a poor showing against the Bulldogs last weekend. He made a couple of costly errors in difficult conditions.
He is also in doubt for Saturday's clash with the Storm. If he pulls out, youngster Fletcher Sharpe will take over the fullback spot.
