Wayne, Bunnies dealt huge blow as star commits

Jeremy Marshall-King has knocked back interest from the Rabbitohs and has re-committed to the Dolphins until at least the end of 2028.

According to 9News reporter Danny Weidler, the crafty No.9 has opted not to go to the open market in November, agreeing to a fresh three-year contract.

Marshall-King has emerged as one of the best hookers in the competition in recent years, with his class and vision out of dummy-half a vital asset for the Dolphins.

The news of Marshall-King's extension comes after reports emerged that South Sydney were set to offer him a huge contract for 2026 and beyond.

The allure of continuing his career under coach Wayne Bennett was the main reason behind the Bunnies' interest, especially given Damien Cook is coming towards the end of his career and is off-contract at the end of next season.

However, in a major boost for the Redcliffe-based franchise, Marshall-King didn't even entertain a move back to Sydney and will stay put long-term.

After spending five seasons in the top grade with the Bulldogs, Marshall-King moved up to the Dolphins for the inaugural campaign and has become one of their main men.

This season, Marshall-King has registered six try assists and scored two tries in 12 matches, while averaging 41 tackles per game at a massive 92 per cent efficiency. 

The club is yet to confirm Marshall-King's extension, with an announcement expected in the coming days.
