Tedesco on standby after Blues training injury

Axed former NSW captain James Tedesco has been put on standby for the State of Origin opener on Wednesday, after fullback Dylan Edwards suffered a possible quad injury at training.

Nine's Danny Weidler broke the news a short time ago with Michael Maguire requesting Tedesco come into camp as questions remain over the NSW No.1's place in the team.

Edwards pulled up with a tight quad after Saturday's opposed training session, forcing Maguire to make last minute plans for a replacement if needed.

Maguire spoke to Roosters coach Trent Robinson shortly after the training session, with Tedesco now a chance to miss Sunday's NRL clash with North Queensland.

The Blues will make a decision on Edwards on Sunday.
