Bulldogs forward Adam Elliott has faced the media for the first time since the infamous 'love triangle' he and ex-teammate Michael Lichaa got tangled up in last month but wasn't interested in answering questions about it.
Elliott recently avoided punishment for his involvement in a lovers' quarrel with Lichaa and his partner. The club opted against a sanction after the back-rower stepped forward and confirmed he would seek help with his issues.
Pressed by reporters over the incident today, Elliott refused to make any comments on the matter.
"I think the club has dealt with that," he said.
"It's a private matter, out of all due respect to everyone involved in that I'd like to keep it that way. It was addressed in the statement released by the club."
Elliott was also asked if the incident damaged the club, to which he responded: "I think we've all got a really good focus on Round One right now.
"Everyone turned up to the trial in really good stead. We were really clear on how we wanted to play and how we want to look as a team. I feel that's the same looking forward to Round One against Newcastle."
But the questions didn't stop there.
The 26-year-old was then asked if he had addressed his teammates over the incident, but once again refused to give a direct answer.
"Like I said, around that whole incident it's a private matter," Elliott said.
"I won't delve into that. I've dealt with that as I saw fit with my teammates early on in the piece. All our focus is on to playing footy together and supporting each other as a team.
"I think I'm really lucky that I've got a really supportive club, teammates and system around me that I was able to focus on for the job I'm here to do. I'm a Dogs man through and through."
Last month's off-field incident isn't the first time Elliott has found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Eliott and former teammate Asipeli Fine both pleaded guilty to public nudity offences committed near the Sydney Harbour Bridge during Canterbury's Mad Monday celebrations back in 2018.
