Broncos rocked by likely season-ending injury to star

The Broncos are likely to be without Adam Reynolds for the rest of the season after he suffered a bicep tear in his side's 40-18 loss against the Roosters.

Early in the second half, Reynolds attempted a tackle on winger Fetalaiga Pauga but put his arm in an awkward position.

He immediately pulled out and signalled towards the Broncos bench.

The halfback tried to defend on the wing and had Joseph Suaalii run straight at him before a forward pass led to him leaving the field.

"He's in all sorts," Andrew Johns said on Nine.

"… He knows straight away, he just clutched at that bicep. If that's torn, that's season over … huge moment."

Post-match, Broncos coach Kevin Walters confirmed it was a torn bicep.

"It's not looking too good for him … potentially (season-ending), until they get in and operate they don't know," he said.

"I don't know a whole lot about biceps but I know he's going to be out for an extended period."

It continued a match of carnage for the Broncos with Jesse Arthars sent to hospital early on with a broken jaw.

'Really poor' defence leads to try

The second half started awfully for Brisbane when Reynolds left in the 45th minute.

They then scored two tries though with Kotoni Staggs and Ezra Mam levelling the score.

Broncos winger Deine Mariner added to the carnage for the Broncos though, sent to the sin bin after 53 minutes for a shoulder charge.

Roosters forward Terrell May was first to score with the advantage before Mam departed for an HIA.

The points continued to pile on as Connor Watson, May and Dominic Young all scored as the Roosters won 40-18.

On the injury front, Reynolds and Arthars will both require surgery while Mam did pass his HIA.
