South Sydney are poised to axe Jason Demetriou on Tuesday afternoon with the board to reconvene for a second meeting at 5pm, reports 9News' Danny Weidler.
It is now expected that recently appointed senior assistant coach David Furner will be promoted into an interim head coaching role.

The board met on Tuesday morning but is yet to make an official determination on Demetriou's future.
Weidler reported that Demetriou had reiterated he wanted to coach on after leaving Rabbitohs HQ on Tuesday.
