5-star center Jayden Quaintance commits to Arizona State

Arizona State and head coach Bobby Hurley got a massive boost on Monday afternoon with the commitment of Jayden Quaintance as part of the 2024 recruiting class.

Quaintance goes to Arizona State as the seventh-best player in the class of 2024 in the USA TODAY High School Sports top 10.

Earlier this month, Quantance de-committed from Kentucky in the wake of head coach Rick Pitino leaving the program. A five-star recruit, Quaintance is a 6-foot-9 forward from Word of God Christian Academy (Raleigh, North Carolina).

ESPN ranks him as a five-star prospect and the second-best center in his class. He is the highest-ranked recruit to commit to Hurley and Arizona State this year.

The addition of Quaintance should see Arizona State rise up the rankings for this class. An already steady recruiting class, featuring four-forwards Samier Ali and Sammy Yeanay, now gets a premier presence down low.

The skinny on Quaintance, a McDonald’s All-American, is that he is a force around the basket. A strong rebounder who can alter shots defensively, he is still emerging on the offensive side of the ball. But he has quick feet and good movement, all of which combine with a growing (and under-rated) outside game to make him a very intriguing prospect at the next level.
