Super Rugby investigating alleged racial slur by fan

Super Rugby's governing body SANZAAR is investigating an alleged racial slur directed at a Fijian Drua player by a Melbourne Rebels fan during the teams' round seven meeting on Friday.

Fijian Drua scrum-half Frank Lomani was allegedly the target of a racial slur during the second half of the Drua's 20-41 loss to the Rebels at AAMI Park.

The incident allegedly occurred after Lomani was sent off for elbowing Rebels second-rower Josh Canham in the back of the head.

"The Rebels are assisting tournament management with their investigations," a Rugby Australia statement read.

It is understood that a male spectator in a Rebels jersey shouted an alleged slur in the direction of Lomani before being evicted from AAMI Park by security.

Drua prop Jone Koroiduadua was also shown a red card in the second half after headbutting another Rebels player.
