Storm halfback facing ban after referee incident

Jahrome Hughes is facing at least a week on the sidelines after an incident with a match official during Melbourne's win over the Warriors.

The star halfback has been charged with grade two contrary conduct by the NRL judiciary following the 30-26 victory at AAMI Park.

Hughes will miss one match with an early guilty plea but risks a further game if he fights the charge at the panel and loses.

In the 58th minute of the match, the Kiwi star pushed over referee Chris Butler in attempt to save a try, but the incident was not penalised at the time.

Stemming from the earlier games on Saturday, a number of players were sanctioned by the match review committee, but all incidents will result in fines.

Canberra duo Ethan Strange (grade one careless high tackle) and Xavier Savage (grade one dangerous contact) will both be fined following the side's win over the Tigers, while opposing playmaker Aidan Sezer will be docked $1000 for a high shot.

Newcastle five-eighth Tyson Gamble will be fined $1000 for a careless high tackle during his side's extra-time loss to the Cowboys.
