'Very disappointing' injury sidelines Port forward

Key Port Adelaide forward Ollie Lord will miss the first eight to ten weeks of the season because of a knee injury.

Lord underwent surgery to repair the damage and now faces a lengthy recovery period, leaving the Power with a selection headache ahead of the season opener against West Coast on Sunday.

"It's very disappointing for myself, especially on the eve of the season. I felt like I had a strong pre-season and was ready to contribute to the team. Injuries are always disappointing, but I'll do my best to recover and return as soon as possible," Lord said.

Potential cover for Lord includes Jeremy Finlayson and Mitch Georgiades.

Georgiades, who is recovering from a knee reconstruction, could return to the field earlier than expected.
