Adelaide Crows veteran Rory Sloane has suffered a pre-season setback and is set to be sidelined after suffering a detached retina.
The 33-year-old underwent surgery on Tuesday night and is on bed rest until further notice.
The 255-gamer was experiencing symptoms – similar to when he had the same surgery in 2021 – when he returned to training last week.

The club has downplayed the severity of the surgery, confirming Sloane will remain at home for five days before being assessed on his steps back into training.
"Pleasingly the surgery has been a success and Rory is now in recovery," Adelaide performance coach Darren Burgess confirmed on Wednesday.
"As is typical with Sloaney, he is very positive and given he has been through this before he understands what the process will look like from here."
The Crows have confirmed they will turn to specialists to ensure the club legend and two-time Crows best and fairest winner makes a full recovery before returning to full duties.
"He will spend the next five days recovering at home and given the nature of the injury we will be guided by the specialists and his recovery before deciding on a return date for training."
Adelaide begins its season travelling to face Gold Coast at Heritage Bank Stadium on Saturday, March 16.
