Ballgirl in firing line amid champ's onslaught

A ballgirl has found herself in the firing line during the Australian Open women's final between Aryna Sabalenka and Qinwen Zheng.

Towards the end of the first set, the Chinese star shanked her attempted return and the ball ricocheted off the umpire's chair into the head of the ballgirl.

The training that ballkids go through prior to major events clearly came in handy, with the volunteer avoiding the initial shot, but was unable to move out of the way of the rebound.

Luckily, she appeared to emerge from the incident unscathed and kept going about her business in front of a packed Rod Laver Arena.

The ballkid would roll two balls down towards Zheng, before immediately returning to her post next to the chair umpire.

Sabalenka won the opening set 6-3.
