Validity of SF vs. LA Rivalries

So I grew up in the Bay Area and was raised in a very anti-LA sports environment. The Kings and Dodgers were well-hated, and I always assumed the feelings were mutual, but my raised-in-LA girlfriend claims that no one in LA really cares about beating Bay Area teams and that the dislike is one-sided. Can anyone else chime in on this?
