No.1 draft pick goes down as Eagles nightmare continues

The AFL's No.1 draft pick has limped off the training field as West Coast's injury-stricken pre-season campaign continued.

Teen midfielder Harley Reid was filmed dropping to the turf, grabbing at his right leg and then limping off the training paddock with a suspected corked thigh.

The incident was captured by 9News Perth reporter Alexia Pesce.

It comes a day after West Coast's second-round draft pick Archer Reid and veteran Dom Sheed were also injured.

The Eagles have high hopes of Harley Reid turning the club's fortunes around after a nightmare season which saw the team win just three of its 23 games.

Reid comes into the AFL as one of the most hyped No.1 picks in league history, with multiple clubs attempting to trade up in order to select him.

The Eagles resisted offers from Hawthorn, North Melbourne and Melbourne to select the Victorian native at the top of the draft last month.

The man who selected Reid at the top of the draft, veteran recruiter Rohan O'Brien, has since stood down from his role, putting an end to a 33-year tenure.
