Broncos fume as Roosters pinch 'Addo-Carr clone'

The Roosters have pinched a Josh Addo-Carr clone from the Broncos – and Brisbane aren't happy about it.

Tyreece Tait, a winger who scorches across the football field, has signed a two-year deal with the Roosters this week.

The 17-year-old was rated among the best schoolboy talents in Queensland over the past couple of seasons and was being groomed for big things by the Broncos.

But the Roosters stepped in and gave the youngster an attractive offer to make the move to Sydney.

"Tyreece is lightning fast and runs 100 metres in 11 seconds flat which is right up there with Addo-Carr," his manager, former NSW and Kangaroos star Matt Adamson, told Wide World of Sports.

"He feels he has more opportunity at the Roosters and will start in the SG Ball Cup next season and then hopefully move into the NRL squad in 2025."

Tait attended Wavell High School, one of the best breeding grounds for rugby league talent north of the Tweed.

Bush club's massive coup

The Mullumbimby Giants have pulled off one of the biggest coups in bush football history.

The club has managed to sign up former Test and premiership-winning coach Chris Anderson to take on its A Grade side for 2024.

Anderson is a former champion Bulldogs winger from the 1970s who also coached the club to the premiership way back in 1995 before repeating the feat with the Storm four years later.

The 71-year-old is one of the few men to coach premiership-winning teams in both hemispheres, having led Halifax to grand final glory as captain-coach in the 1980s.

His last NRL gig was with the Roosters back in 2007 but he remains a highly-respected league man who will bring a wealth of knowledge to Mullumbimby.

Rabbitohs land potential Burgess successor

A giant prop from North Queensland arrived in Sydney last week set to fulfill his destiny with the Rabbitohs.

Jason Hallie, 19, has been playing against grown men in the Cairns A-Grade competition for the past two seasons and is rated among the best young front-rowers in the sunshine state.

At 110 kilos, he is still growing and could well develop into the successor to Tom Burgess as the Rabbitohs' main go-forward man in coming years.

Originally from New Zealand, Hallie grew up in Tully and attracted plenty of attention from Sydney clubs when he scored four tries in one game in the Mal Meninga Cup for Cairns earlier this year.

Daughter's hilarious reaction to veteran's new team

Veteran playmaker Blake Austin is set to finish his career with The Entrance Tigers in the Newcastle competition.

The much-travelled 32-year-old mate a cryptic post on social media from England this week declaring: "Telling my five-year-old my new team for next year, told her, but had to explain it's not on TV or in big stadiums, she said and I quote 'ewww'."

Austin didn't elaborate – but Wide World of Sports has learned his destination is almost certainly The Entrance.

The talented playmaker began his career with the Panthers way back in 2011 before stints at the Tigers and Raiders in the NRL and Warrington, Leeds and Castleford in Super League.

He also played two Tests for Great Britain in a distinguished 200 plus game career in the big league.
