Punter's crazy $140k bet earns massive Cup win

Without A Fight has won the 2023 Melbourne Cup, ridden by Mark Zahra to give trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman an incredible win.

The seven-year-old gelding paid $8 fixed for the win via TAB and if you were on the first four, chances are you're having just as good a day because it was worth an incredible $239,496.70.

Rounding out the placings was Soulcombe in second and Sheraz in third.

Soulcombe paid $3.40 for the place, while Sheraz paid $22 for the place.

Ashrun, ran fourth.

The quinella paid $35.40, the exacta paid $94.60, the trifecta paid $9,441.30 and the first four paid $239,496.70, all per TAB.

The win on Without A Fight was Mark Zahra's second Cup in a row after success on Gold Trip last year.

One lucky punter placed $140,000 on the gelding at $7.50 with PointsBet.

The bet was reported just under two hours before the race began.
