The Warriors are pondering a massive blow just over a month after their stunning 2023 season finished within a week of the grand final, with superstar prop Addin Fonua-Blake requesting a release.
The club confirmed on Thursday afternoon that it was weighing up the request, with Fonua-Blake keen to return to Sydney to be closer to his parents.
It's a stunning turnaround from the 27-year-old who left Manly in 2020 after agitating for a release from his contract on compassionate grounds in a bid to get out of Sydney.
Fonua-Blake is one of the highest paid players in the competition, with the front-rower on a salary reportedly worth $1 million-a-season until his contract with the Warriors expires in 2026.
New Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has already confirmed publicly that he would be keen to see Fonua-Blake in the Red V next season , telling The Sydney Morning Herald that he was awaiting the Warriors' decision.
"I'm more than interested," Flanagan told the SMH.
"He has some history here with the club. He played under Dean Young as a junior. I'm always looking for quality players and he's a very good one."
