Holmes named for Roos return after controversy

Valentine Holmes will start on the wing for Australia alongside Dylan Edwards against New Zealand in his first match since being suspended.

Holmes comes straight into Mal Meninga's starting line-up, replacing Selwyn Cobbo, after serving a one-match ban over a social media post that broke the NRL's code of conduct in September.

Elsewhere in Australia's line-up, Cronulla Sharks star Nicho Hynes is poised to make his Test debut after being named in the No.17 jersey.

Star props Payne Haas and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui are rested, with their spots taken by Jake Trbojevic and Test debutant Thomas Flegler.

Kangaroos star Valentine Holmes during the Rugby League World Cup semi-final match between Australia and New Zealand at Elland Road on November 11, 2022 in Leeds, England.

New Zealand goes in unchanged after smacking Samoa 50-0 last week, with Kieran Foran to start in the No.9 jersey for the second straight Test.
