Tigers to lose 'best schoolboy' star over Sheens axing

The Wests Tigers' decision to part ways with Tim Sheens may have cost the club the services of the youngster crowned the best schoolboy player in the land.

Westfields Sports High School took out the National Schoolboys Cup final on Wednesday, thrashing Palm Beach Currumbin 38-4 at Allianz Stadium.

Leading the way was brilliant 17-year-old five-eighth Lachlan Galvin, who set up four tries and was named both player of the match and the tournament.

Galvin signed a three-year deal with the Tigers months ago thanks to the work of Sheens and recruitment manager Warren McDonnell, who has also been sent packing by the Tigers.

The changes at the Tigers have resulted in Galvin and his family having a change of heart about where the youngster's future lies.

"They were very close to Tim and Warren and they were the reason Lachlan signed with the Tigers," a source close to the family told Wide World of Sports.

"Now they are having second thoughts and there are a host of clubs circling the kid – because he is that good."
