Kerr's crunch call ahead of do-or-die Matildas clash

Australian superstar Sam Kerr has revealed she will take to the field in the Matildas' round of 16 match against Denmark despite spending time on the sideline with a calf injury.

As the Matildas touched down in Sydney ahead of their must-win match on Monday night, Kerr confirmed to 9News that she would make her muchreturn.

"I'm really excited," she said.

"I will play."

The injury has kept her out of the three games to date – a 1-0 win over Ireland, a 1-3 loss to Nigeria, and Monday's 4-0 thumping of Canada in Melbourne.

Kerr was listed on the bench for the Canada game, but never warmed up and was not needed as the Aussies easily accounted for the reigning Olympic champions.

The update from Kerr builds on the vision of the at training on Thursday and Friday

The team will prepare for the knockout match in Western Sydney.
