Chaos erupted at the press conference between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz when members of their respective posses began punching on.

The circus wasn't entirely unexpected, given the penchant Paul – a YouTuber turned fighter – has for stirring up drama.

But onlookers were stunned nonetheless when security guards employed by both Paul and Diaz stepped in to separate the two fighters, and then proceeded to brawl on stage.

Heavy punches were thrown as Paul, 26, flexed his muscles for the crowd in front of the mayhem.

Paul and Diaz – a legend of mixed martial arts – will fight on Sunday to settle a long-running war of words.

Chaos erupted behind Jake Paul during his face off with Nate Diaz.

Paul took to Twitter following the melee to reveal members of Diaz's team were alleging assault.

"Nate's wittle (sic) feelings are hurt," the professional antagonist wrote.

"All out warfare, eye for eye. You threatened MVPs co-founder who has been a partner to you and your team every step of the way? He's put your best friend on over and over again. Stupid.

"Then your team wants to swing on us… so you got served a three piece and a biscuit. Punk. It's time for goodnight."
