Major blow for Blues with forward to miss finals push

There are serious fears that Carlton key forward Harry McKay could be ruled out for the rest of the home and away season after suffering a knee injury during Saturday's 50 point win over Port Adelaide.

The key forward was sent for scans on Sunday, and is now required to undergo an arthroscope on his knee.

McKay could miss up to eight weeks after the awkward fall, threatening his chances to help the Blues in their march to the finals.

The 2021 Coleman medallist saw a surgeon on Monday, who confirmed he will require the knee to be cleaned out in the coming days.

Carlton head of football Brad Lloyd released a statement on behalf of the club, praising the 25-year-old as the "ultimate professional" despite the lengthy setback.

"While it is disappointing for Harry that he will be sidelined, we know he will be the ultimate professional and continue to have a positive influence around the Club during this period of the season," Lloyd said.

Lloyd turned his focus to the boarder playing group and how they will manage the loss of the star big man as they push for a finals berth.

"One of the main things the playing group prides itself on is stepping up and everyone playing their role when needed. That opportunity will present again in Harry's absence.

"We'll continue to lean on our even contribution across the board as we lock in for this Saturday's game against West Coast."

Midfielder Adam Cerra could also miss the Blues' game against West Coast on Saturday with hamstring tightness.
