TIL: Player contracts tied to coaches?

Was reading an article today and found that two of the most prominent players from the Gold Coast Titans (Australian Rugby League) are now free agents as their contracts were tied to the Gold Coast coach who was just sacked. So the club is in shambles now as they didn’t know ditching their coach would also potentially lose them two of their best players.

I’ve never heard of a player contract being directly tied to a coach’s contract. Is this a known thing? In rugby or any other sport for that matter? I found it kinda fascinating.
