'Sign me up': Kyrgios eyes Saudi Arabia riches

Australian star Nick Kyrgios declared his interest in playing in a Saudi Arabia-funded tennis league as the country continues its aggressive expansion across world sport.

Oil rich Saudi Arabia is pumping huge money into golf and football and is now setting its sights on tennis and Formula 1.

Kyrgios on Tuesday responded on Twitter to reports that Saudi Arabia was in talks with the ATP Tour about acquiring a stake in the tennis world.

"Finally. They see the value," Kyrgios wrote.

"We are going to get paid what we deserve to get paid. Sign me up."

Kyrgios last year brushed the Davis Cup to instead chase riches at the Diriyah Tennis Cup in Saudi Arabia.

"At this point of my career, I'll always do what's best for me," Kyrgios said.

"I can travel around the world playing exhibitions around this time of year for six figures – you know I feel I put myself in that position – so it's an easy one for me.

"I'll easily take time with my family and my girlfriend and enjoy experiences around the world and earn that type of money rather than play a week away in something (Davis Cup) where I wouldn't be able to be with my girlfriend, and I'm not getting paid that well."
