Tristan Thompson becomes a U.S. citizen

Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers competes for the ball against Marcus Smart and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics in the second quarter during Game 6 of the 2018 NBA Eastern Conference Finals at Quicken Loans Arena on May 25, 2018 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Basketball star Tristan Thompson is now a U.S. citizen.

According to the sportsman, who shares daughter True with Khloe Kardashian, he’s “truly living the American Dream” after being sworn in as a new American, just days after joining the Boston Celtics for the new season.

“I came to the U.S. on a student visa and have always had big dreams. I’m now truly living the American dream,” he said in a statement to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Tristan was previously a Canadian citizen and came to the United States in 2009 to study at the University of Texas. He stayed in education for a year before joining the NBA.

The news comes after Khloe praised Tristan for his efforts to change his ways after he cheated on her.

Khloe and Tristan split after he kissed family friend Jordyn Woods while the reality star was heavily pregnant with their daughter True.
