Richmond star charged with alleged burglary offences

Richmond star Marlion Pickett has been remanded in custody on alleged burglary charges and will attend Perth Magistrates Court on Monday for a bail hearing.

Richmond Football Club confirmed the charges, offering its support to Pickett "and his family while these matters are dealt with".

The club revealed the charges related to alleged offences in December 2022 and January 2023.

In a statement, WA Police said Pickett was charged with four counts of aggravated burglary, three counts of stealing, three counts of criminal damage, one of attempted stealing and one of receiving. 

His manager, Anthony Van Der Wielen told The Age Pickett "has a strong intent to defend himself against the charges".

Marlion Pickett is tackled by Jake Lloyd during the round five AFL match between Sydney Swans and Richmond Tigers.

Pickett was in Perth on Saturday night for the Tigers victory over Fremantle.

After making his debut in the 2019 grand final, the 31-year-old has become a regular in the Tigers side, appearing in all 13 games for Richmond this season.
