Coach's response as Latrell confirms boxing dream

NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler has backed Latrell Mitchell's dream to step inside the boxing ring after the Rabbitohs star called out a pair of AFL greats.

After having his name linked to Wednesday's bout between Geelong great Cameron Mooney and ex-Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers, Mitchell confirmed that he was ready to fight the winner of the two.

Mitchell will line up in Fittler's Blues side in the State of Origin opener next week, and the NSW coach said his star man would be able to handle himself equally well in the ring if required.

"That's the first I've heard of it … it wouldn't surprise me, they all don't mind getting into it," he laughed on 2GB's Wide World of Sports Radio.

"We did a bit of boxing yesterday … there was some people there that are pretty good judges and said they can hold their hands up the boys.

"I think what it does do it keeps them fit, Gal's been able to do it and make a bit of a career but I'd back him to be able to do anything Latrell."
