Luckless Demon to miss 2021 season

Luckless Melbourne defender Marty Hore will miss the entire 2021 season after today rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament at training.

The 24-year-old suffered the setback when he was tackled and was then helped from the ground by trainers.

Melbourne footy boss Alan Richardson confirmed Hore, who hasn't played since 2019 due to a torrid run with injury, had hit another hurdle.

"Unfortunately, the scans have confirmed that Marty has ruptured his ACL and will miss an extended period of time," Richardson told the club's website.

"This is devastating news for Marty and the club, as he was preparing for the season ahead.

"Marty is a very impressive and resilient person, and we will fully support him through his rehab.

"He'll meet with the surgeon next week to discuss the appropriate treatment required to repair the ACL."

Hore has played 14 AFL games since Melbourne selected him as a mature-age recruit with pick 56 in the 2018 national draft.
