Finch savages woeful Renegades

The Brisbane Heat have kept their finals hopes alive with a five-wicket win over the struggling Melbourne Renegades on Thursday night.

The Renegades, who set the Heat a target of 150 runs to win, had their run of bad luck continue when Brisbane skipper Chris Lynn was dropped twice before receiving a third lifeline when Jack Prestwidge was called for a no-ball.

Lynn eventually finished with 50 from 40 deliveries, while Joe Denly and Joe Burns both notched 31 runs each to get the Heat over the line and into fifth place on the BBL ladder.

Despite reaching a respectable score of 6/149 at the end of the first innings, life was made tough for the Renegades who after 10 overs were 4/71.

Aaron Finch

Shaun Marsh (0) and Aaron Finch (13 off 13) were both unable to fire but were bailed out by Beau Webster (50 off 40) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (40 off 33) who helped notch a defendable score for their bowlers to bowl at.

Finch after the match admitted his squad hasn't been up to standard, conceding he feels sorry for head coach Michael Klinger with the Renegades sitting on just two wins from 10 matches.

"You've got to to the basics right and we're not doing that with the bat or ball," Finch told Channel Seven.

"I seriously feel for Michael Klinger who's doing a great job as head coach."
