Esports becomes official Sport in Pakistan

Karachi: The Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday announced that Esports will now be considered as an official sport in Pakistan.

Fawad toots to Twitter and shared the exciting news for Gamers. He revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Pakistan Sports Board and the Pakistan Science Foundation.

He concluded by encouraging gamers to get ready as new opportunities are waiting for them in the near future.

It must be noted that Fawad revealed last month that a national level Esports tournament would take place in March through private sponsorship. He also confirmed that Pakistan’s gaming industry is growing at 20 percent annually.

Esports rose to popularity across the country after Tekken player Arslan Ash in 2019 won Tekken 7 Championship in Las Vegas.
