Karachi: Southern Punjab (SP) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) have chased down 300+ runs to win their first games in Pakistan Cup here on Friday.
SP beat Sindh by four wickets in a live-telecasted contest at State Bank Stadium. While batting first, Sindh were bowled out for 309 runs. The right-handed batsman Azam Khan was unbeaten with his 69 runs off 36 balls with the help of eight boundaries and three sixes.
Skipper Saud Shakeel scored 60 runs off 78 balls with the help of three boundaries. Opener Sharjel Khan smashed 44 runs with the help of three boundaries and as maximums. Hassan Khan, in the end, raced Sindh’s score with 38 off 28 laced with two boundaries and a six.
For SP, Mohammad Ilyas and Aaron Summers bagged three wickets each while Mohammad Imran took two wickets.
In reply, Salman Ali Agha was in impressive touch as the right-handed batsman scored 106 runs off 75 balls to help his team notch a convincing victory. He smashed nine boundaries and three sixes during his stay at the crease.
Opener Zain Abbas remained not out for 75 runs off 79 balls with the help of nine boundaries.
Mohammad Umair and Anwar Ali bagged two wickets each.
On the other hand, KPK was taken over the victory line by Musaddiq Ahmed who consolidated a 103-runs inning. He struck seven boundaries and three sixes.
Irarullah scored 46 runs while Khalid Usman remained not out for 35. Waqas Maqsood bagged three while Qasim Akram took two scalps of CP.
Earlier, CP posted 305-7 in 50 overs. Mohammad Ikhlaq and Saad Nasim scored centuries to lay down a solid foundation for their team to put up a big total. Ikhlaq scored 117 runs while Saad Nasim made 101.
Arshad Iqbal bagged two wickets for KPK.
Meanwhile, Northern beat Balochistan by 36 runs. Balochistan were bowled out for 249 runs while chasing 286 runs. Imran Farhat was the highest run-scorer with 49 runs.
Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Nawaz, and Mubasir Khan bagged two wickets each for Northern.
Umer Amin earlier guided Northern to post 285-7 in 50 overs. He scored 115 runs off 136 balls with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes. Mohammad Nawaz made 60.
For Balochistan, Raza ul Hasan and Umaid Asif made two wickets.
